Get Ready: HFR Contest Opens Feb 1
HFR’s 2025 Fiction & Poetry Contest will be open for submissions from February 1 to February 28!
This year’s judges are Hieu Minh Nguyen, author of Not Here, for poetry, and Gwen Kirby, author of Shit Cassandra Saw, for fiction.
One winner each in poetry and fiction will receive $1,000 each and publication, and one runner-up in each category will win $250, plus publication! All the winning work will be published in an online folio this summer, as well as in the fall/winter 2025 print issue. All entries can be considered for publication. Visit our contest page for length limits, eligibility rules and more.
How to Enter
The entry fee of $23 gets you a one-year subscription to HFR. This year, we’re also offering a discounted $15 entry fee that comes with a digital subscription.
